Well, cleaning can be frustrating when you are not doing it properly. Whether you love grilled cheese, hamburgers, or pancakes, an electric griddle is one of the most important kitchen accessories for every home. There are different homemade remedies to clean electric griddle. We are going to share the most convenient, effective, and cheapest ones with you.

1. Cleaning Electric Griddle With Dishwashing Liquid

You need the following things for the cleaning process.

  • Sponge
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Hot water
  • Paper Towels
  • Clean clothes

Cleaning Process

Step 1: Before starting the cleaning, it is essential to disconnect the power of the electric griddle and let it cool before you clean. A griddle gets very hot and may cause serious injuries if handled carelessly.

Step 2: Use a paper towel to remove the oil buildup from the surface of the electric griddle. Decently rub the surface to remove maximum oily substances.

Step 3: Now pour hot water on the griddle and add dishwashing liquid to it.

Step 4: Take a clean sponge and rub the griddle surface to remove burnt food particles.

Step 5: Clean the sponge and dry the griddle as much as possible.

Step 6: Now pour more water and add some dishwashing liquid.

Step 7: Clean the surface gently with a clean sponge. It will help to remove the leftover burnt food particles.

Step 8: After removing all gunk, rinse a griddle to completely remove the traces of the dishwashing liquid.

Step 9: Use a paper towel or a clean, dry cloth and wipe down the electric griddle.

Step 10: Before you plug in the griddle, dry out the electric griddle.

2. How to Clean an Electric Griddle With Baking Soda and Vinegar

One of the best combinations used for effective homemade cleaning remedies, baking soda, and vinegar, are cost-effective solutions for cleaning an electric griddle.

You need the following things for the cleaning process.

  • Sponge
  • Baking Soda
  • White Vinegar
  • Soap solution

How to Clean an Electric Griddle With Baking Soda and Vinegar

Cleaning Process

Step 1: Unplug the griddle; give it some time to cool down properly before starting the cleaning process.

Step 2: Remove the detachable surface (if available) and also the griddle plate for easy cleaning.

Step 3: Now soak the griddle plate in warm soapy water for at least 15 minutes.

Step 4: Clean the griddle surface with a sponge. Also, use some pressure to wipe the stubborn bits.

Step 5: Make a cleaning solution from one part of white vinegar and two parts of water. If the griddle doesn’t have any removable plate, dip the sponge in this solution and wring it completely.

Step 6: Wipe the grease off the griddle plate using the sponge. Remember; make sure to prevent electrical components from exposing to prevent damages.

Step 7: For stubborn grease, make a paste of baking soda and warm water and apply it to the griddle. Use a sponge or paper towel to gently wipe the baking soda and the grease from the surface of the griddle.

Step 8: Make sure to clean any trace of baking soda or vinegar using a sponge.

Step 9: Don’t forget to clean the remaining drips from the electric components and dry the unit completely before using it.

3. Cleaning Non-Stick Electric Griddle with Spatula for Hardened Grease

You need the following things for this cleaning method.

  • Heat resistant gloves
  • Warm water soap cleaning solution
  • Metal Spatula (Flat-headed)
  • Clean clothes
  • Sponge

Cleaning Process

Step 1: Turn the electric griddle on low heat and let the grease heat up.

Step 2: When the grease is hot and loosens up, use the spatula and gently scrape off the grease. Don’t forget to wear heat-resistant gloves before using a spatula.

Step 3: When you are using the spatula, make sure to stand at a decent distance from the electric griddle.

Step 4: After removing the grease, switch off the griddle.

Step 5: Unplug the griddle from the power source and let it cool.

Step 6: For hardened grease, fill the griddle with the warm water soap solution and allow it to sit for about 30 minutes.

Step 7: If there is any grease left on the griddle, you can use a sponged dipped in a soap solution to get rid of it.

Step 8: Now take a clean cloth soaked properly in cold water and go over the electric griddle gently. It will remove the air makes from the unit.

Step 9: For best results, repeat the previous step at least three or four times.

4. Cleaning Electric Griddle With Cutting Soap

You need the following things for this cleaning process.

  • Nylon scrubber
  • Paper towel
  • Warm Water
  • Grease cutting soap

Cleaning Process

Step 1: Unplug the griddle and let it cool properly. Don’t forget to unplug it from the connector port.

Step 2: Now fill the kitchen sink with warm water and grease-cutting soap.

Step 3: Submerge your griddle but keep the connector port outside the water. Let the unit soak for 20 minutes.

Step 4: Use a dishcloth or nylon scrubber to wipe the surface. After soaking, the stubborn bits will start falling off.

Step 5: Turn over the griddle and clean the outside for any dripping.

Step 6: Take a clean towel to dry off the electric griddle and set it to air dry to get rid of any remaining water.

Step 7: Make sure to prevent water from entering into connector port.

Things To Avoid While Cleaning Electric Griddle

  1. The electric griddle can be convenient to use and clean, but there are many things you should avoid while cleaning.
  2. Never use a dishwasher to clean an electric griddle.
  3. Don’t use an abrasive scrubber or steel wool for cleaning.
  4. Make sure to prevent electrical connections from water.
  5. When using a non-stick skillet, make sure to use a non-abrasive sponge, nylon scrubber, a paper towel, or a dish towel to clean.

However, cleaning stubborn bit needs some patience; an electric griddle is easy to clean. For best results, clean the griddle right after cooking before the grease settle down. It is always easy to clean the grease right after cooking.
